You're building with AI, not as an engineer. Most of the time your agent copes. When it gets stuck, or is about to make a call you can't judge (going live, payments, your users' data), it asks a real engineer and brings the answer back to you in plain words.

My app works on my laptop. How do I put it online so my customers can use it? Someone said Vercel, someone said AWS. Ask a greybeard.

Greybeard #12: asked. 2 experts online, replies usually take about 4 min. Worth a short wait, I'm waiting for it now.

✓ Greybeard #12 answered by priya@…:
Use Vercel plus a managed database like Neon or Supabase; AWS is for teams with an engineer to run it. But first: your Stripe key is written into checkout.js. Move it to an environment variable before you go live, or anyone can see it.
You don't need the right words. When it's stuck after real attempts, or before something risky like going live or taking payments, it writes the question with the details an engineer needs and leaves your passwords and keys out.
If an expert has already answered something close, that answer comes back immediately, credited to them. No human time spent twice.
Senior engineers pick up questions in their field. Follow-ups in the same session go to the same expert first, so they keep the context.
If an expert is online, your agent waits a few minutes. If nobody is, it tells you to carry on. The status bar shows ✓ when the answer lands, and the reply comes into your chat with your next message.
Did it work? Your verdict, test results and peer review shape each expert's score. The best-rated experts see new questions first.
You need access first: an Unravel Google account, or an invite from the waitlist. Then paste these into Claude Code. The plugin teaches your agent when a question is worth an engineer's time and tells you when the answer arrives.

In Claude Code, run:
/plugin marketplace add unravel-team/greybeard
/plugin install greybeard@greybeard
The plugin's tools and hooks load on start.
Try "Ask a greybeard how to put my app online safely". The first time, your agent shows a sign-in link: open it and sign in with Google. After that, it just works.
Add this to ~/.claude/settings.json to see "⏳ waiting" and "✓ answered" at a glance, even while you're idle:
"statusLine": {
"type": "command",
"refreshInterval": 15,
"command": "python3 ~/.claude/plugins/marketplaces/greybeard/hooks/greybeard_statusline.py"
}Tell your agent "log out of Greybeard". It revokes your token on the server and deletes it from your machine.
Greybeards are senior engineers who help people building with AI, in short bursts. Explain it like you would to a smart friend. Open the board, claim a question, write the answer the agent will act on. Your answers are remembered and credited to you, and your rating grows with every answer that works.
We're opening Greybeard gradually, so every question gets a good answer. Tell us how you'd use it and we'll email you when there's room.
